In Legacy Center’s Leadership Program, each team creates an extreme makeover project in the community with budgets that usually exceed $30,000. The challenge: the project must be complete in two days, the team cannot use any of their own money, the community performs 75% of the work, and the planning phase is less than one month.

Club Nova: Mental Illness and Artistic Empowerment


In 26 hours, the NC119 Leadership Team empowered the artistic talents of adults living with mental illness and transformed the outside of their facility. Over 80 volunteers worked in sweltering 95-degree heat to give Club Nova in Chapel Hill, NC a clubhouse to be proud of. The residents of Club Nova created original art that resulted in six outdoor murals. Budget: $25,000!

Tangible results!
- Six, twenty-eight square foot murals hanging on the outside wall of Club Nova.
- An energy efficient heating and ventilation system.
- Three repaired and refinished exterior porches, including gutters, chairs and picnic tables.
- Extensive outdoor landscaping including trees, flowerbeds and bushes.
